Auditions

Hello...auditions for "The Tempest" will be this week and next. Essentially, there are a series of auditions depending on which part is of interest to you. Therefore, read the following schedule carefully.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 17th 3:40-5:30 Auditions for all character NOT Ariel, Prospero, Miranda, Ferdinand, Caliban, Stephano, or Trinculo.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 18th 3:40-6:00 Audition for Ariel, Caliban, Stephano, and Trinculo, Miranda, and Prospero. Each of these characters must be able sing, must be willing to sing, and essentially, must have some ability to dance, especially Ariel. Thus, if you are afraid of singing in front of people, do not audition for these parts.

(NOTE: If you auditioned for "Oh Dad....", and you don't want any of the parts listed for Friday, you SHOULD NOT audition again.)

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 22nd, Day 1 of dancing auditions for anyone hoping to be one of the spirits who dance. Kasey will be going over the necessary steps for the audition. She says that you should view the following link to get an idea as to the style of dance we're using. No, you don't have to know point. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJqky3bheQI

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 23rd, Day 2 of dancing auditions. We will see who has enough dancing ability to do the lead components of this dance, and who has enough to do the background dancing. 3:30-5:15.

Please post questions. Yes, I will cast all major parts before the 22nd. This will help you determine whether to audition for dancing parts or not!

Is there a song we should be preparing to show our singing abilities?

No...I think I'm going to just find a vocal range and take it from there. I might decide on one, and if so, I'll post it here when I do. Sigh...now you have me thinking! I'll look for one tonight. It'll probably be something from Enya!

Mr. Bair,
I would love to audition on friday but I work 4:30-8:30. I'll be there until 4ish but I really would like the opportunity. What should I do?

Awesome <3
I had my hopes up for "Only Time" but you're the director, I get no say in that. Haha.

I'm not settled on this yet, but this tune has a quality that I'm seeking....it's a "sirenesque" piece. Is that a word?

Mr. Bair,
I am struggling a great deal with this song. Do you have any tips for me or everyone auditioning? Or quite possibly a second song choice?
If not, I'll just deal with this somehow.

Thanks,
Moriah

You will be singing into a microphone that will be modulating your voice. This is one of four components I need in this character. Just sing in your natural voice, and I'll do the modulation. This isn't Enya's natural voice. It's been doctored to death! Just know how the song goes, and the rest will take care of itself.
