READ NOW!!!!

Thanks for everyone's help and rehearsal time today. For the record, the following policies will be enforced from now until the end of these productions:

1. No director will be permitted to leave until all of the individuals that he/she is responsible for have gone home for the evening.

2. The ONLY door that you can use to enter or exit the building is the stage door. You are FORBIDDEN to leave the school using the doors in the lobby, and you are expressly forbidden to walk through the building to get to the back parking lot. (This statement applies only to days in which school is not in sesssion for either you or me.)

3. No one may leave the auditorium without my permission or your director's permission.

In short, the system is clearly leaning towards prohibiting use of the building on days in which school is not in session. I have argued that we really need to use it. In return, I have promised to follow stringent security. I can't do that by myself.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Actually, if you read the last post, Rossen beat me to it. Someone is up early today Amanda? Well, Thanksgiving is all about turkeys, so I awoke to thoughts of everyone in Drama. Anyway, enjoy the day. Treat is as a holi day. Be kind to each other, and I'll see you tomorrow.

In all honesty, I am grateful for all of you. Each time I see you, I count my blessings. Despite my complaints, it's a good day to remind you that you mean the world to me.

PAINTING THE TOWN...YELLOW????

Someone left all of the paint open and brushes lying about unclean. Thanks to Will's eagle eyes, he spotted it. John, kindly, offered to take care of it, but his ride was coming, and he was fretful. Who is the guilty party? Do I need to start fining you again? Arrrgggg.....

Anyway, I want to thank everyone who worked on the program today, particularly Birky. I have a copy in my hand to eyeball tonight, and hopefully, it will be sent to the Board tomorrow morning.

Lastly, I know that one group was proposing a rehearsal for late Friday. Is there anyone else planning on rehearsing Friday. Please post immediately.

CAST LISTS!!! ANALYZE CAREFULLY!!!!

Yeah....Well....Ummm.....

Will, Ana, and Ryan asked me to post something, and for the life of me, I can't remember what it is. I can tell you that the third play will be "The Ugly Duckling." I can also clarify the audition process for you. It will work like this:

1. You are NOT auditioning for a play. You are auditioning for three plays. The directors will cast accordingly. You will, WISELY, accept a casted part unless there is some reason that I know about in advance why you shouldn't or won't accept it.

2. You will receive little or no time to look at the script. The directors know what they're looking for, and they will make that clear. Do what they ask.

3. Each director will provide a summary of their plays for you tomorrow. I didn't tell them that today, but I just did now.


Otherwise, I want to express my sincere admiration for the films that I saw today. The editing is marvelous. These projects LOOKED like a film, and they felt like a film. I'm still struggling with audio, and I wish that we could clean the audio better. I realized that some of you tried with this project.

I would also like to commend the writers of the films. It's an amazing feeling to see your "baby" become a reality. You should be proud. I am.

Well...

It's been an exhausting weekend, but I have enjoyed it. I know that you're anxious for me to respond, but I am certain that you didn't want me to make a decision just for the sake of making a decision. Here's two-thirds of a decision.

First of all, here is the criterion by which I made my decision:

1. Quality of the letter
2. Availability and "doability" of the piece
3. Individual's Drama history
4. Individual's performance this semester
5. Quality of the play selected

Based on this, here is what I have decided:

1. Will will direct "The Crazy Mixed Up Island of Dr. Moreau." It's him in every way possible.
2. Ana will direct "The Wedding Reception." This will make her career come full-circle.

Then, it gets fuzzy..... I need to explain some things.

Ryan's letter, and all else above are exemplary. I don't necessarily like his title with the two titles mentioned above. We need something more serious in the middle.

John's letter was certainly compelling, and his title is perfect. I know that John is going to be assisting me, if not directing, the Drama I title in the spring. That creates a dilemma.

Chris's letter needed development, I'm not familiar with the title, and we don't have copies of it. That creates too many dilemmas at one time. I do have a proposal for you Chris, and it involves directing.

Thus, I would like Ryan to direct the third play, but I would like some input into the title. In fact, I would suggest, "Murder Is Fun!" It is the perfect piece to sandwich between these titles.
Those are my decisions. Ryan, if this is not acceptable to you, then, please let me know. Otherwise, I welcome your feedback.

ATTENTION!!

I obviously didn't make it back by 2:00. Sorry. I reached nirvana last night. I was in the front row of a Paul Stanley concert, seats one and two with my brother. I have officially "lived." Anyway, I visited with my family, and for the first time, I saw my older brother at his job. He walked me around the building introducing me to everyone he has ever met. That was pretty cool. For the record, you can tease me all you want about Paul Stanley. It was truly a dream come true for me.

Anyway, I'm hearing that one of you is planning a very ambitious scene on the streets of Boonsboro at 2:00 AM? STOP! You need a permit, or you'll be breaking the law. Get permission first!
